New company hopes to be 'Uber for kids'

Service currently offered in Boston

BOSTON – Children who miss the bus to school could soon catch a ride with a little help from an app.

Parents can set up rides on demand or schedule trips in advance with "Zemcar."

A former Verizon Wireless executive and father of two is the man behind the startup company, which he calls "Uber for kids."

The company promises strict background checks on drivers, with users even able to pick drivers and keep favorites by setting up a trust circle.

Right now, the app is only available in the Boston area.
