Purse-snatcher sought in Melbourne

2 similar robberies happen in same day

MELBOURNE, Fla. – Melbourne police are looking for a man who grabbed a purse from a woman who was sitting in a car at a convenience store.

The robbery happened around 10 p.m. Tuesday at the Aurora Food Mart, 1595 Aurora Road.

Melbourne police said the man reached inside the woman's vehicle and forcefully took her purse from her hands, slightly injuring the woman's wrist.

The man drove off in a dark-colored car driven by a woman, police said.

A similar robbery happened early Tuesday at the Sunoco gas station at 4000 S. Babcock St in Melbourne, police said. Police released a photo of the man suspected in the Sunoco robbery.
