Deputies: Man refused to leave by 11 a.m. checkout time

DeLAND, Fla. – Volusia County deputies have arrested a man who they say pulled a knife on a DeLand motel manager who woke him up to tell him he needed to check out.

Deputies said the manager told Green his checkout time was 11 a.m. on Wednesday and when she went to the room at 11:25 a.m. to prepare the room for another customer, she found Green still asleep in the room.

The manager woke up Green and told him he needed to pay for another night or leave, according to the report.

Deputies said Green then pulled out a knife and threatened the manager, who left the room and contacted authorities.

When deputies arrived, Green was yelling, "they attacked me," and said he pulled a knife on the manager because she came into his room, according to the report.

Green refused to leave the room until he got his money back, so deputies said they arrested him in the room and took him to Volusia County jail.
