Troopers find vehicle believed to be involved in Brevard fatal hit-and-run

Jeep Cherokee to be processed to confirm it is vehicle involved

COCOA, Fla. – Troopers have found a vehicle believed to be involved in a hit-and-run that happened Monday after receiving an anonymous tip, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said a 1998 Jeep Cherokee has left front damage consistent with the crash that left a jogger dead earlier this week.

The vehicle has been secured by the Florida Highway Patrol. Troopers said the vehicle will be processed to confirm -- through physical evidence that will be sent to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement -- that it is the vehicle involved.

Due to the ongoing investigation, troopers did not release the location where the vehicle was found.

Brevard County deputies were initially called out to the site of the deadly incident about 7:10 a.m. Monday after a passerby found the body of a man near a ditch along a dead-end, just north of State Road 520. The man left his home about 4:30 a.m. to go out for a morning jog, authorities reported.
