High-powered guns, drugs confiscated in Melbourne

Charges pending in case

MELBOURNE, Fla. – Melbourne police say officers were on foot patrol on Carver Street when they noticed the smell of drugs coming from a group of people.

Officers say when they approached the group, the people began throwing unknown items under nearby vehicles.

Officers then found three semiautomatic pistols and a large amount of suspected marijuana and crack cocaine.

Police also found an additional semiautomatic pistol in the back floorboard of one of the parked vehicles.

Police say criminal charges are pending.
