A kitten had to be put down after apparently being beaten by a group of children. A woman said she saw the group hitting the kitten with sticks and immediately rushed to help.
"When I picked her up I could tell she wasn't breathing right. So I tried not to pick her up and they were just laughing like they were playing outside," good Samaritan Celeste Macias said.
She brought "Bali", as the cat was later named, to the SPCA for treatment. The cat's face was swollen and she was struggling to breathe, vets said. During the exam, the vet also discovered Bali was in heart failure and had to euthanize her.
Macias said she hopes police catch the children responsible.
