Family remembers woman found dead in Eustis

Shelly Arnold's body was found one year ago

EUSTIS, Fla. – Family and friends of 24-year-old Shelly Arnold gathered around in her memory where her body was found one year ago.

"I want to hear that voice," said Arnold's mother, Brenda Hill. "She was a good person and nobody, especially her, deserved this."

Hill said her daughter will always be remembered in a positive light.

"She would give you the shirt off her back and she would help you out any way that she could," Hill said. "If you needed something, she would be there for you."

Investigators say Arnold was found mutilated and in a vacant lot on West Doane Avenue and detectives still have no leads on her killer.

"You think, 'Wow, a neighbor found her lying here,'" the victim's grandmother, Darlene Biddle, said. "It's just unreal."

Friday night, family joined in prayer and released balloons in Arnold's memory. Her grandmother still remembers everything like it was yesterday.

"It's hard to come out here, and even though we have a memorial set up for her and everything, you just ... it brings back a lot of memories," Biddle said.

Hill said she just doesn't want this happening to anyone else.

"I need answers," she said. "The whole family, friends, we need some answers. Please say something if you know anything. We're not going to give up until we have some answers."

Crimeline is offering a $5,000 reward for anyone with information that can help in the case.
