Man arrested in armed robbery at Viera credit union

Andrew Reed, 26, arrested by Brevard County sheriff's deputies

VIERA, Fla. – A man has been arrested by Brevard County sheriff's deputies after an armed robbery at a Viera credit union.

Andrew Reed, 26, of unincorporated Cocoa, was arrested immediately after the robbery at Community Educators Credit Union at 7380 Murrell Road, deputies said.

A clerk told deputies the robber implied he had a weapon and demanded money. Deputies said the clerk then gave the robber an undisclosed amount of money from the register and he left on foot.

An off-duty deputy sheriff was alerted a robbery had just happened and saw a person matching the description, according to the Brevard County Sheriff's Office.

The deputy identified himself and Reed was taken into custody without incident, the Sheriff's Office said. Reed was still in the possession of evidence relating to the robbery at the time of the arrest.

Reed was arrested and charged with armed robbery. Deputies said he was taken to the Brevard County Jail under a no bond status.

Anyone with information is asked to call the West Precinct General Crimes Unit at 321-258-6299 or Crimeline at 800-423- TIPS (8477). Deputies said all calls to Crimeline are confidential and that callers can remain anonymous and be eligible for a reward for information leading to an arrest.
