NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. – Two people were shot early Monday in New Smyrna Beach in a drug deal gone bad, according to police.
The shooting happened around 2:45 a.m. on Washington Street near U.S. 1 and State Road 44.
Police said two men, one of whom is homeless, were trading marijuana for cocaine when one of them pulled out a gun.
During a struggle, the gun went off, and a bullet struck Timothy Holloway in the arm and Raheem Hayward man in the thigh, police said.
Willie Singleton who was a resident at the home on Washington Street where the shooting occurred said his phone was taken during the incident.
No other details have been released.
