New round of Florida standardized testing begins

The latest round of standardized testing began Monday for thousands of Florida students and this year, the Department of Education is hoping for a much smoother run.

Last year's tests were plagued with problems with everything from issues logging on to a cyberattack that caused widespread disruptions.

The state says it has worked over the last year to add safeguards and make other improvements.

The majority of students will take their tests on paper, while some students take the writing portion online Monday.

More online testing is scheduled to begin in April.
