Argument between father, son sparks Volusia shooting, deputies say

34-year-old shot in chest, taken to hospital

DeLAND, Fla. – A 58-year-old man was taken into custody Tuesday morning after his 34-year-old son was shot in the chest in DeLand, deputies said.

The shooting happened around 11:15 a.m. at a home in the 1800 block of Holly Boulevard.

According to the Volusia County Sheriff's Office, deputies found a man, identified as Grady Edmondson Jr., 34, bleeding from a gunshot wound. He was airlifted to Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach in critical condition.

The shooting stemmed from a quarrel between the two, the Sheriff's Office said.

Deputies said the shooting victim's father, Grady Edmondson, 58, was taken into custody. 

A gun believed to have been used in the shooting was recovered, according to deputies.

No other details have been released.
