Cops: Driver left 3-year-old unattended in parking lot

ORMOND BEACH, Fla. – A 3-year-old has been airlifted to the hospital after police say the unattended child fell out of a vehicle while it was in reverse.

Ormond Beach police say the 29-year-old driver left the child in her 1993 Chevy Blazer in the parking lot of Nature's Garden on West Granada Boulevard and went into the store.

The Blazer somehow shifted into reverse, backing out of the lot and onto West Granada Boulevard, according to police.

Police said the child then somehow fell from the car and was injured.

The child was airlifted to Halifax Hospital, but it's not clear what the child's condition was.

The incident remains under investigation.
