Tennessee man in 'Just Married' car lead police on chase, officials say

MT. JULIET, Tenn. – A driver  with 'Just Married' on the back windshield led police on a chase March 3 in Tennessee, authorities said. 

An officer observed the 2006 Chevrolet Equinox allegedly swerving and driving wildly on Interstate 40.

When the officer attempted to get behind the car, the driver turned his vehicle toward the patrol car nearly hitting the car, police said.

The officer made an attempt to stop the car when the driver later identified as Michael Smith, 27, of Nashville sped up and kept going. 

The car led police on a chase, while crashing into guard rails and concrete barriers, police said. 

The driver eventually reduced his speed and pulled into a restaurant parking lot and stopped voluntarily, officials said. 

Smith was arrested and charged with evading arrest, reckless endangerment, and reckless driving.
