DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – After Thursday mornings approval by the Volusia County Council, the Sheriffs' Department plans to release its' first batch of body cameras into the field next month.
The Volusia County Sheriff's Office said it is joining the growing number of law enforcement agencies around the country using body camera to capture and document the encounters and enforcement actions of their deputies.

The Volusia County Council on Thursday approved the purchase of 225 body cameras and related hardware, software and video storage equipment, which is being financed by money seized in criminal cases. That will be enough to equip all of the agency's patrol deputies.
