Family, friends gather to mourn teen killed in Apopka

Destiny Bargman, 15, shot to death on Saturday

APOPKA, Fla. – Family and friends of Destiny Bargman held a vigil for the 15-year-old Sunday evening.

The group gathered in front of the family's Apopka home where she was killed on Saturday.

About 100 people blocked the street and prayed for the family.

"(She was a) very intelligent young girl, not troubled, but I guess we are finding out that she was with this young man," said Bargman's aunt, Vostelle Williams.

Investigators said Destiny was shot on Saturday afternoon.

Her friends posted on social media that her boyfriend had been playing with a handgun.

Bargman's family said her mother was working at the time of the shooting.

Detectives have only said that a 16-year-old has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder.

Bargman's friends described her as a caring teen who put school first.

"Just hearing how like she got taken so early -- like, why do the good have to die so young," said friend Naijaah Casellas. "She didn't deserve it, but I know God has a purpose for this and I know she's going to a better place, but it just hurts."

Family members said that they have not been told what led up to the shooting.

The victim's aunt said she wants to know how a 16-year-old had a gun.

The family has created a GoFundMe account to help cover funeral expenses. Click here if you would like to donate.
