Incendent happened at Buget Inn hotel in Cocoa

COCOA BEACH, Fla. – Cocoa police continue to search for the gunman in a car who fired at an 18-year-old who was talking with friends in a hotel parking lot.

News 6 partner Florida Today reports that the victim, from the Tampa area, was lightly grazed by a bullet in the shooting Monday and told police he didn’t know the assailant. No other injuries were reported.

Police said those involved have all returned to Tampa, but detectives are actively pursuing the case.

The incident happened about 9 p.m. at the Budget Inn hotel at 4150 West King Street.

Police said the victim had been near a vending machine earlier in the evening when an argument ensued. The victim was later chatting with friends when gunshots rang out, reports show. Officers arrived within minutes.
