POPD, POFR rescue a dog found trapped at base of tree

The Port Orange Police Department and Port Orange Fire Rescue helped recover a female dog who was found trapped at the base of a tree!

Pedestrians were walking their own dog when they heard a whimper coming from a wooded area.

The civilians quickly contacted for help.

Dr. Katie Malensek from Ravenwood Veterinary Clinic responded and helped calm her while the POFR used their Jaws of Life, chain saws, and winches to get her out safely.

Initial reports show that she will be fine.

She is in the care of Ravenwood Veterinary Clinic while they try to locate her owner.
