ORLANDO, Fla. – Water samples collected from Lake Rose and Lake Sherwood show that bacteria levels have dropped so recreation can resume.

Orange County officials said that water samples collected on Thursday indicated that the bacteria levels have dropped to lower levels that will allow them to open the lakes to recreational activities.

The testing is due to a sanitary overflow that occurred on Sunday near the vicinity of Lake Rose off of Old Winter Garden Road near Good Homes Road.

Orange County environmental protection will continue to sample the water from the lakes next week.
