Wickham Road reopens after major drainage project

A section of Wickham Road between Eau Gallie Boulevard and Aurora Road in Melbourne reopened to traffic early Thursday, after being closed for just more than a month for a major drainage project, News 6 partner Florida Today reports.

The road reopened nine days ahead of schedule.

The $800,000 project, which involved installing of a stormwater drain to address flooding problems in the area, began Feb. 22, and was scheduled for completion by April 2.

In a statement, Brevard County Public Works Director John Denninghoff cited "excellent weather conditions, along with coordination and cooperation from on-site contractors," which allowed the project to move along ahead of schedule.
