Teen charged after shooting of car, home in Daytona Beach

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – A 19-year-old man was arrested Saturday following a shootout in the 300 block of Vermont Avenue in Daytona Beach.

Police received a call about people in two cars shooting at each other in the area. One of the cars was described as a tan or silver Cadillac SUV. Several shell casings were found at the scene.

Investigators say a house in the 300 block of Vermont was hit by a bullet. There were no injuries in the incident.

Police spotted a silver 2005 Cadillac that had been hit by a bullet and found out it was stolen when an officer ran the tag. Essex Taylor was identified as the driver.

The occupants of the Cadillac said they were involved in a shooting in Daytona Beach.

Taylor denied driving the car and declined to talk about the incident. The other occupants of the Cadillac said they had been chased by a red car that was shooting at them and they never returned fire.

Three guns were found in the car, including a 9mm that matched the shell casing found on Vermont Avenue.

Taylor is being charged with principle to shooting into a vehicle and principle to shooting into an occupied dwelling.
