Kissimmee communication center experiences technical difficulties, police say

Issue stems from fiber-optic line being damaged

KISSIMMEE, Fla. – The Kissimmee communication center experienced technical difficulties Tuesday night due to a fiber-optic line damage, according to Kissimmee police.

Originally, only half of the non-emergency and 911 lines were operational due to the fiber optic line being damaged. Around 9:30 p.m., police said only two 911 lines were down and six lines were up and working at the Kissimmee Communication Center.

Kissimmee police said the center services the city's police and fire departments.

Anyone who receives a busy signal when calling the communication center can text to 911 for people who need immediate assistance and the seeitsayit@kissimmee.org email was being manned Tuesday night for non-emergency situations, police said.

This outage was countywide. Police said Century Link was fixing the problem.

There was no time frame of when the problem would be rectified.
