One of two designated weekends this year

Get ready to reel 'em in this weekend. Saturday and Sunday are "license-free" freshwater fishing days for Florida visitors and residents.

The governor designates a few weekends a year to let people legally fish in the state's waterways without a license.

"License-free fishing weekends are a great way for Floridians and visitors to enjoy the fishing capital of the world and to experience every fishing opportunity Florida has to offer," Gov. Scott said in a statement. "I hope everyone enjoys springtime in our state and takes advantage of license-free fishing this weekend."

All bag limits, closed areas and size restrictions still apply on license-free fishing dates. Anglers will be allowed to fish without a license only in freshwater areas this weekend; licenses are still required for saltwater fishing this weekend.

Another license-free freshwater fishing weekend is scheduled for the second Saturday and Sunday in June.

License-free saltwater fishing days are scheduled for the first weekend in June, the first Saturday in September and the Saturday after Thanksgiving.
