More than 20 cats killed in Daytona Beach house fire

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – More than 20 cats were killed Sunday in a house fire in Daytona Beach.

The fire broke out around 8:40 p.m. at 244 Lexington Drive, east of Beach Street.

According to Daytona Beach Fire Rescue, the fire started in the kitchen of the home.

One dog was rescued, but about two dozen cats died in the fire. No people were in the home when the fire began, officials said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
