Teen shot in robbery attempt in Orange County

18-year-old taken to hospital; deputies search for culprits

ORLANDO, Fla. – An 18-year-old was shot early Monday in an attempted robbery in Orange County, according to deputies.

According to Orange County sheriff's deputies, the teen and a juvenile were walking on Robbins Avenue near Pine Hills Road when they were approached by two people wearing hooded sweatshirts who demanded their phones.

One of the culprits pulled out a gun and fired a shot, injuring the 18-year-old, deputies said. 

The teen was taken to a hospital, but the extent of the victim's injuries were not released.

The juvenile was not injured.

Deputies are searching for the assailants.
