Mother who drove children into ocean seeks visitation

Ebony Wilkerson hasn't seen children since 2014

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The woman who drove her three children into the ocean off Daytona Beach is asking for visitations with her kids.

According to The Daytona Beach News-Journal, Ebony Wilkerson is now in a treatment facility in Lake Wales. She says she only gets to communicate with her children through letters.

Wilkerson, 34, was found not guilty by reason of insanity on three counts of felony child abuse.

She says she has not seen her children since March 4, 2014, the day she drove her family's Honda minivan into the ocean near Daytona Beach. She was pregnant at the time and her three children were inside the van.

Firefighters were able to rescue the family.

A hearing date for Wilkerson's visitation request has not been scheduled.
