ORLANDO, Fla. – An Orlando police officer injured after being run down during a traffic stop was resting Tuesday night after a successful surgery, according to the Orlando Police Department.

The department said Officer Will Anderson was already showing signs of improvement.

Police said Edward Kelty was driving south on Kirkman Road when Anderson approached with his gun drawn and was run over when he went to chase after a passenger. Angel Nieves was inside the car when Anderson was run over by Kelty.

In the video released by OPD, Anderson approaches the driver's side of the car when the passenger gets out and runs off. As Anderson goes after the passenger, the driver of the car struck Anderson, and Anderson slid over the hood of the car.
