Daughter has wedding dress fitting in hospital for terminally ill mom

Mom diagnosed with terminal cancer, is patient at Florida Hospital Orlando

ORLANDO, Fla. – Music played in the background and lights shined as Ashleigh Hoagland brought her mother, Michelle Dacil, to tears by trying on wedding dresses.

The fitting took place in a lobby at Florida Hospital Orlando, where Dacil is a patient, according to a Florida Hospital news release.

Dacil has been diagnosed  with terminal cancer, and her daughter wanted to make sure her mom got to see her in her dress.

Hoagland is hoping to get married later this month so her mother can attend.

"We don't know how much time my mom has left," Hoagland said in the news release.

Hoagland tried on five different dresses supplied by David's Bridal.

"She always wanted to be a nurse; she always wanted to help people,” Dacil said of her daughter. “It’s very humbling to be her mom. She’s beautiful on the outside, but more importantly she’s beautiful on the inside.”

Dacil has ties with Florida Hospital, having worked in the coding and billing department. Josh, her son, works in the engineering department of the hospital.

Working towards her doctorate in nursing, Ashleigh hopes to eventually join Florida Hospital's staff.

"Florida Hospital is a family affair for all of us," Dacil said.
