15-year-old talks about being bitten twice by shark

Kelton Beardall bitten while surfing in waters off New Smyrna Beach

NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. – A 15-year-old teen is out of the hospital after being bitten by a shark twice on Saturday.

Kelton Beardall was surfing at New Smyrna Beach when he said he landed on a shark. The shark then bit Beardall's leg. Beardall said when he pulled his leg away, the shark bit him more aggressively for a second time.

Beardall said he swam in about 75 yards to shore, where he was met by a stranger who carried him to his mother's truck. Once at the vehicle, lifeguards began to treat his injuries.

Beardall suffered minor injuries on his foot that do not require surgery.

The teen posted video on his Instagram of himself in the ambulance and hospital.

"It got my whole foot and I was liked, 'I lost my foot.' I was freaking out and I caught a wave in on my stomach, and then I saw something that I still had my foot, and I was like, 'Yes.' Then I tried to walk and I couldn't. I just fell over," Kelton Beardall said.

Beardall said doctors predicted he won't be able to run for at least a month. He said he plans to get back in the water as soon as possible.
