MELBOURNE, Fla. – A man still had a knife in his possession when he was arrested by police, the Melbourne Police Department said.

Police responded after receiving a report about a man armed with a knife who was chasing another person on a beach. Police said witnesses were contacted and a perimeter was established.

Richard Rios, 18, fled on foot through the neighborhoods around the 200 block of Provincial Drive. Police said another victim was found who was also threatened with the knife.

Multiple witnesses also identified Rios as the assailant, police said.

Rios has been charged with aggravated assault.

No injuries were reported.
