No injuries after SunRail train strikes vehicle, Longwood police say

Vehicle hit at rail crossing of Ronald Reagan Boulevard near State Road 434

LONGWOOD, Fla. – No one was hurt when a SunRail train struck a vehicle Friday in Longwood, police said.

It happened at 5:23 p.m. Friday at the rail crossing of Ronald Reagan Boulevard near State Road 434.

Police said a SunRail train was traveling north approaching the crossing when a black four-door vehicle traveling south was stopped in traffic on Ronald Reagan Boulevard.

The vehicle was not fully past the railroad tracks and was struck in the rear passenger side door by the SunRail train, police said.

The driver of the vehicle was not hurt. Police said the vehicle suffered minor damage.

No passengers on the SunRail train were injured, police said.

The roadway reopened after being closed for a short time.
