LAKELAND, Fla. – Two people are displaced after a fire broke out at an apartment building at 115 Riggins St. early Sunday morning.
When crews arrived, they found smoke pouring from the two-story building.

The Lakeland Fire Department said two people who were sleeping in the building were awakened by smoke alarms and were able to safely evacuate the apartment. One person suffered minor burns, but refused medical treatment.
Firefighters got the fire under control at 4:49 a.m., almost two hours after the call initially came in.
LFD officials said investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire, but preliminary reports show it was accidental in nature.
The fire caused approximately $50,000 in property loss.
