Passengers cannot leave traffic stop, court ruling says

Law appllies throughout Florida

DeLAND, Fla. – Passengers in vehicles that are pulled over will not be allowed to walk away.

According to the News-Journal, a new ruling by the Fifth District Court of Appeal in Daytona Beach says passengers are not free to walk away during a traffic stop, even if they have not done anything wrong.

The Florida Supreme Court will reject or apply the ruling throughout the state.

Until then, the law is in effect for all Florida counties.
