Melbourne man on felony probation arrested for DUI

MELBOURNE, Fla. – The Melbourne Police Department said it arrested a Melbourne man on felony probation with DUI after traffic stop.

Police said Tyler Jeffrey Huskins, 25, of 3202 Wind Song Court in Melbourne, was arrested after failing a DUI test.

Officers said they observed a white Toyota fail to yield the right of way, nearly causing a crash, at Eau Gallie and N. Apollo Boulevards at 7 p.m. Sunday.

During the stop is was determined that Huskins appeared to be under the influence of an unknown substance and a field sobriety test was administered.

After Huskins was unable to perform the test he was subsequently arrested for DUI, officers said.

After a search of Huskins car, it was discovered that he had several item of paraphernalia indicative of IV drug use. Other items were recovered indicated the abuse of CO2 inhalants. commonly referred to as "Whippets".

Officers said that it was discovered that Huskins was on felony probation with an extensive felony arrest history and prior DUI arrest. 

Huskins was out on bond for possession of cocaine, police said. He was medically cleared, booked and turned over to the Brevard County Jail.
