VIERA, Fla. – A 19-year-old Palm Bay man has been charged with carrying out a deadly shooting in Palm Bay, authorities reported.

News 6 partner Florida today reported that Darius Deshon Poole is charged with second-degree murder without premeditation and possession of a weapon by a delinquent after police received a 911 call about 1:30 a.m. Friday about a shooting at a home in the 1400 block of Nolan Street in the northeast section of the city.

Police found 30-year-old Herman Hernandez, of Mexico, seriously injured with a gunshot wound.

"The caller advised that his roommate had been shot. We believe the suspect, Poole, drove to the home. Right now, we're trying to determine the motive. We're looking at several things," said Lt. Mike Bandish of the Palm Bay Police Department. "Hernandez was taken to Holmes Regional Medical Center. He was pronounced dead a few hours later."

Palm Bay detectives got a warrant for Poole's arrest. The Brevard County sheriff's GAMEOVER Task Force, which focuses on high profile suspects and fugitives, was contacted to bring Poole into custody.

Poole is well known to authorities and was connected for several years as a teenager to numerous vehicle burglaries in the northwest section of the city, authorities said.

Poole was arrested and booked into the Brevard County Jail Complex. He is being held on a $150,000 bond, records show. An investigation is continuing, police said.
