Box truck overturns in construction zone, closes I-4

Driver is 'habitual traffic offender,' police say

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A single-vehicle crash on eastbound I-4 at Ivanhoe Boulevard has closed all lanes of the highway, officials said.

The crash happened at 10:30 p.m. Monday between Ivanhoe and Colonial Drive. Officials said a large box truck hit the concrete barricades in the construction zone and overturned, blocking all eastbound lanes.

The driver had minor injuries and refused medical attention.

Drivers are asked to use caution and use an alternate route if possible.

Officials said the driver, who they described as a habitual traffic offender, was arrested and taken to the Orange County Jail.

I-4 is closed at the Amelia exit. All traffic is being diverted to Colonial. Cars can re-enter I-4 at Ivanhoe.

The wrecker service is working to remove the overturned truck. The road will be closed as crews repair the concrete barricades and temporary lighting in the construction zone.
