Orange County schools looks to hire 85 crossing guards

Orange County schools are looking to hire crossing guards to help staff four new schools openings and fill the spots of several retirements.

School officials said they are 85 crossing guards short.

"If the guard is out and we have no subs then we have to dispatch a deputy which need to be pulled deputy from their normal duties to fight crime and have to be out there crossing kids," said Bertis Negron, crossing guard coordinator.

Guards also report things going on in the neighborhood, along with dangerous drivers.
