Styrofoam banned at Miami-Dade County parks
That Styrofoam container with your to-go sandwich will not be allowed at any Miami-Dade County park and marina starting next summer, WPLG reports.
If authorities spot it, or anything made out of the popular packaging product, also known as polysterene foam, there will be a $50 fine.
The light-weight material, which doesn't disintegrate when it touches water, is already prohibited in Miami Beach, Key Biscayne, Surfside and Bal Harbour.
County commissioners passed the ordinance on Tuesday.
