DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Daytona Beach police said Michael J. Wehr, 65, of Ormond Beach, was traveling east on Mason Aveune, in the inside lane Friday, shortly past midnight.
As he came up to the intersection of Center Street, he noticed something in the roadway. He continued driving and ran over the victim. Wehr did not know is was a human until after he hit the person.

The victim's name is be withheld until next of kin can be contacted.
The investigation is ongoing.
