JUPITER, Fla. – A man was arrested on accusations of stealing 107 sea turtle eggs, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said.
“Our biologists contacted law enforcement after receiving information about someone poaching sea turtle eggs from a beach behind a residence,” the FWC said in a Facebook post.
Officers said they witnessed a man allegedly taking eggs from a female loggerhead sea turtle as she was laying them.
When the man was arrested he had 107 eggs in his possession, the FWC said.
He was charged with a third-degree felony.
Of the 107 eggs, fifteen were kept in evidence and 92 will be reburied by the FWC biologist.
