MARION COUNTY, Fla. – A man was shot shortly after midnight on Monday while guarding a fireworks tent in Marion County, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office said.
The victim, Gilbert Manso, called 911 after being shot once in the shoulder, and then later in the leg, by two suspects who allegedly demanded money from the safe.
Manso was guarding the fireworks tent off SE Maricamp Rd in Ocala when Quinneshia Roberts and teen Anquan Everett entered the tent in all black with a handgun and allegedly placed the gun to Manso’s head.
The sheriff’s office said Manso was attempting to defend himself when he was shot once in the left shoulder.
Roberts and Everett both ran from the tent, but allegedly returned to shoot at Manso a second time, this time striking his left leg.
Manso was taken to the hospital where is recovering with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
The pair was tracked to 16 Pine Trace Drive by a K-9, where a handgun and clothing was located, the sheriff’s office said.
Roberts and Everett have been charged with one count of robbery with a firearm and one count of attempted felony murder.
Both are being held without bond.
