Woman armed with gun robs DeBary Food Mart

Customer tried to follow suspect


DeBARY, Fla. – Deputies said an armed woman robbed the DeBary Food Mart Saturday night.

The Volusia County Sheriff's Office said they were alerted to the robbery after a 911 call was received at 10:19 p.m. Saturday.

Deputies arrived at the store two minutes later, but the suspect had already fled the area.

An employee at the store said the woman walked in, pointed a gun at the employee and then demanded money. The employee turned over an undisclosed amount of cash.

Deputies said the woman, was wearing black pants, a black jacket over a hooded sweatshirt and a mask to conceal her face, bolted out of the store. She was last seen running east on Highbanks Road toward Naranja Road. 

A customer who was outside of the store at the time of the robbery tried to follow the suspect in his car, but lost sight of her.
