BCFR: 4 hospitalized after possible carbon monoxide poisoning on boat

4th patient from same boat, Brevard fire officials say

MERRITT ISLAND, Fla. – Four people were taken to a local hospital Tuesday after a case of possible carbon monoxide poisoning aboard a boat, according to Brevard County Fire rescue.

Fire officials said they were called to a 35-foot boat in the area of 300 Sea Ray Drive in Merritt Island just after 2 p.m. Florida Today reports that a passerby thought they saw a woman and child acting unresponsively on the boat.

The four people were removed from the boat and were taken to Cape Canaveral Hospital, according to Florida Today.

BCFR had first said it was two adults and one child on the boat.

Hazardous materials crew members were on scene, along with the Brevard County Sheriff's Office.

It's not clear what caused the incident.

No other details were immediately available.
