Mark NeJame: Alan Grayson was "bum-rushed"

High powered attorney says Politico.com video unfair

ORLANDO, Fla. – Congressman Alan Grayson’s ex-wife, Lolita, is stirring the political pot just in time for the Democratic  National Convention in Philadelphia.

Lolita Grayson handed the political website a paper trail of alleged domestic violence cases
against her then husband dating back to 1994 and 1999 in Virginia, and 2005 and 2014 in Orange County, Florida.

The 25 year marriage was annulled last year.

Grayson’s divorce attorney Mark NeJame said it was all old news, and that he countered with concise documentation to Politico’s reporter.

“I handled this interview with Politco yesterday (Monday) and provided the reporter one document after another, and one file after another, so they would have the whole story, Nejame said.

“… It was very frustrating that when you look at it, they published almost nothing that were counterpoints to the allegations that were made.”

Nejame said he presented sworn statements, judicial statements, and police reports, all to counter allegations dating back 20 years.

A video confrontation between Grayson and Politico.com reporter Edward Issac Dovere, released late Tuesday afternoon, shows the two almost nose to nose.

Congressman  Grayson at least twice said he would have the reporter arrested for assaulting a U.S.congressman.

NeJame said Grayson was “bum-rushed”, that the congressman was upset, essentially telling the reporter “we can’t trust you.”

Grayson’s new wife, Dr. Dena Grayson, who is a candidate for her husband’s old congressional seat, called the Politico report "outrageous."

In an email to WKMG-TV News, 6 she wrote: “The man that this report described is not Alan, and these allegations are totally and ridiculously false.  I want everyone to know the truth about exactly what kind of man that Alan is.  He is a wonderful husband and father.  The home that we share full-time with his eldest children is filled with love, kindness, and laughter.  He is my best friend and soul mate, and I am extremely fortunate to have his love.”

Grayson and Nejame will be holding a joint news conference at NeJame’s Central Florida Office tomorrow morning.
