Teens jailed after trying to carjack woman in Cocoa Beach

COCOA BEACH, Fla. – Two 16-year-olds are in jail without bond after Cocoa Beach police said they attempted to carjack a woman – possibly at gunpoint - moments after she left a cafe, News 6 partner Florida Today reports.

The 57-year-old woman, who police said hit the gas and sped off from the parking lot, was not injured.

The incident happened about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday in the parking lot of 75 N. Orlando Avenue, along a major tourist strip in the beachside city. The teens were charged with carjacking with a firearm.

Both were transported to the Brevard County Jail Complex where they were booked and placed on a no bond status.

Police said the victim was leaving 'Juice N Java' when she was approached on the driver’s side by the suspects, who demanded she get out of the car.

The woman, driving a 2015 KIA,  told detectives that one of the men pointed an apparent gun at her during the confrontation. The woman drove off and then called 9-1-1.

Police quickly responded, searching the area and locating the two teens off of Bahama Boulevard. No motive was given.
