Conjoined twins injured at Brevard beach

Twins airlifted to Arnold Palmer Hospital

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – Twelve-year-old sisters who are conjoined at the head were taken to a hospital after one of them was injured on a Central Florida beach, officials say.

The girls were playing in the water Sunday evening off Playalinda Beach when one of the twins hurt her neck.

Brevard County Fire Rescue spokesman Don Walker said both girls were conscious and alert when they were flown to Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children in Orlando. He said it appears that they were playing in the water when one was injured.

Authorities didn't identify the girls.

Playalinda Beach is south of the Kennedy Space Center.

No other details were given.
