ID of human remains found in Edgewater field still a mystery

Remains discovered in woods near Pullman Road

EDGEWATER, Fla. – Volusia County officials said Friday that the medical examiner has not yet been able to identify human remains found in a wooded area.

Workers found the remains just after 11 a.m. Tuesday while clearing land south of Pullman Road in Edgewater, according to police.

Edgewater police said Friday that the Volusia County Medical Examiner’s Office was unable to determine the race or sex of the body or the manner of death. Dental records also failed to provide an ID, police said.

The body has been classified as “unidentified” and will be examined by forensic anthropologists at the University of Florida, police said.

The final report from the Medical Examiner’s Office may take up to 90 days to complete, according to police.
