Mother, child rescued from car hanging from SR 408 overpass

Lucilinda Quiles, 27, ticketed for careless driving

ORLANDO, Fla. – A woman was ticketed for careless driving after she and her child were rescued after their vehicle nearly went off the State Road 408 overpass near Kehoe Boulevard Sunday afternoon.

Orange County Fire Rescue personnel responded at 10:51 a.m. in reference to single-vehicle accident.

Witnesses told troopers a white Mazda 3 was traveling westbound on State Road 408 near Kehoe Boulevard in the left lane. For an unknown reason, the car went into the grass median and struck the barrier wall over Kehoe Boulevard. The car then traveled over the wall and was dangling over Kehoe Boulevard, he Florida Highway Patrol said.

Lucilinda Quiles, 27, and her child, Ayden Williams, 6, were trapped inside the vehicle.

OCFR deployed their technical rescue team to extricate them.

Williams was transported to Arnold Palmer Hospital with minor injuries and Quiles was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center with minor injuries.

All westbound lanes were closed on State Road 408 from State Road 50 to Rouse Road for while authorities cleared the scene.

Troopers said Quiles was ticketed for careless driving.

The FHP is investigating the crash.
