Man arrested in Leesburg deadly hit-and-run crash

LEESBURG, Fla. – The Leesburg Police Department arrested a man Monday who was wanted in a deadly hit-and-run crash that occurred Saturday evening.

Police said Jose Omar Azua, 33, has been charged with leaving the scene of a crash involving death and manslaughter-vehicular homicide. He will be booked into the Lake County Jail.

Police responded to the area of US Highway 27 and Tally Road at 9:34 p.m. in reference to an accident involving a Saturn sedan-wagon and a Harley-Davidson motorcycle.

The driver of the motorcycle was identified as Lori Dudley, 54 , of Holly Hill.

Dudley was transported by ground ambulance to the Leesburg Regional Medical Center, where she later died from her injuries.

Police said the occupants of the Saturn immediately fled the area on foot after the crash, but one person was captured by LPD shortly after.

Traffic was diverted around the area during the on-scene investigation for approximately three-and-a-half hours.
