FBI investigates threat promising to be bigger than Pulse massacre
'Wait till you see what I'm planning for Labor Day,' post reads
WILTON MANORS, Fla. – The FBI has teamed up with Wilton Manors police to investigate threats made to LGBT community that promised to be more severe than the Pulse nightclub massacre, WPLG reports.
"I think it's spreading like wildfire. I think people are very concerned about this weekend coming up," bar owner Nick Berry said.
The threats surfaced online this week about a mass shooting set to happen in the city Labor Day weekend.
The culprit, identified as Craig Jungwirth, threatened to go through with a similar massacre like the one at Pulse nightclub in Orlando, where a gunman killed 49 people.
"They know he's quite capable of performing what he's threatening to do," Berry said.
Berry, who owns Rumors Bar and Grill, has a photo of the man allegedly behind the threats at his front door.
He said Jungwirth is the same man who was caught on surveillance video in May vandalizing his bar.
Berry said Jungwirth has become deranged and angry with many in the community.
"Even though he's gay, and he's attacking gays, this is clearly a hate crime," Berry said. "It's clearly, I think, a domestic terrorist threat."
The threatening posts include one that said, "None of you deserve to live. If you losers thought the Pulse nightclub shooting was bad, wait till you see what I'm planning for Labor Day."
He also allegedly wrote, "I'm going to be killing (expletives)."
"We don't want another repeat of what happened at Pulse in Orlando, so hopefully they will catch the person," a Wilton Manors resident said.
As the community remains on edge, Wilton Manors police are urging anyone who sees Jungwirth to call them immediately.
"He clearly needs to be put away. I won't even say on camera what I want done with him," Berry said.
Anyone with information about Jungwirth's whereabouts is asked to call Wilton Manors police or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
