Florida lawyer facing sex charge commits suicide, deputies say

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – A north Florida attorney facing charges of attempted sexual assault on a child was found dead in a canoe from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, Alachua County deputies say. 

According to the Gainesville Sun, the body of Assistant County Attorney Robert Livingston was found Tuesday, in Newnan's Lake near Gainesville.

The Alachua County Sheriff's Office says deputies went to the lake to search for Livingston - after he rented a canoe and failed to return to a fish camp. 

Livingston was arrested last week on two counts of attempted sexual battery on a child, and one count of child abuse. He was released from jail on a $50,000 bond.
